BTS’ Jungkook Set to Debut Solo in July

The exclusive report from Sports Chosun reveals that Jungkook is currently preparing to release his first solo album on July 14. Notably, the album will feature an English song, showcasing Jungkook’s versatility as an artist.

When approached for comment, Big Hit Music, the agency representing BTS, stated that they will make an official announcement regarding Jungkook’s solo debut once all plans have been finalized.

If Jungkook does release his solo album in July, he will become the sixth member of BTS to venture into solo activities, following J-Hope, Jin, RM, Jimin, and Suga. In June of last year, the group collectively announced a hiatus from group activities to focus on individual projects.

Although this upcoming album will mark Jungkook’s official solo debut, the 25-year-old singer has already achieved significant success as a solo artist. In November of last year, Jungkook had the honor of singing the official soundtrack song for the 2022 FIFA World Cup, titled “Dreamers.” This made him the first South Korean artist to release a World Cup song, and he performed the song live at the opening ceremony in Qatar.

Additionally, in June 2022, Jungkook collaborated with American pop musician Charlie Puth on the hit single “Left & Right.” The song gained recognition and was listed among Billboard’s 17 biggest collaborations of the year. It debuted at No. 22 on Billboard’s Hot 100 chart and remained on the chart for 17 consecutive weeks.

Jungkook’s solo success continued in February 2022 when he made his debut on the Hot 100 chart with the song “Stay Alive.” This track served as the soundtrack for the webtoon series “7 Fates: Chakho” and was produced by BTS’ Suga. It reached No. 95 on the Billboard singles chart.

With these three songs, Jungkook set a new Guinness World Record in May by accumulating one billion streams on Spotify in the shortest time for a male K-pop solo artist.

In addition to these official releases, Jungkook has also unveiled solo songs “Still With You” in 2020 and “My Time” in 2022 via SoundCloud, showcasing his artistry beyond his work with BTS.

Meanwhile, BTS has recently kicked off “BTS Festa,” an annual event held to celebrate their debut anniversary on June 13. This year’s event marks the band’s milestone of ten years in the industry and is being conducted in collaboration with the Seoul city government. The celebration will take place both online and on-site throughout the city, allowing fans to participate in various activities and events.
