In a recent interview with Sports Chosun, Kim Seon Ho shared his thoughts on his film debut in ‘The Childe’ and his long-awaited return to the entertainment industry after a two-year hiatus.
‘The Childe,’ directed by Park Hoon Jung, marks Kim Seon Ho’s first movie appearance since his involvement in a controversy surrounding his private life. In the film, he portrays ‘Nobleman,’ an enigmatic pursuer chasing after boxer Marco (played by Kang Tae Joo). The storyline revolves around Marco’s journey to Korea in search of his estranged father, only to find himself pursued by a dangerous group with unknown intentions.
Reflecting on his excitement for his first film, Kim Seon Ho admitted to initial concerns about whether people would be curious about his movie debut. However, after seeking opinions from those around him, he became reassured by the anticipation surrounding the project. The actor expressed his fascination with the world of movies, emphasizing the unique experience and the fresh perspective it offers. Having attended the press release event for the first time, Kim Seon Ho found it intriguing to watch himself on the big screen, although he couldn’t help but notice his perceived shortcomings.
Most notably, ‘The Childe’ has garnered significant attention as Kim Seon Ho’s official comeback to the entertainment industry after the controversy that ensued during his popularity surge from the drama ‘Hometown Cha-Cha-Cha.’ The controversy surrounding his private life led to a hiatus and the rescission of his casting in films such as ‘Dog Days’ and ‘2 O’Clock Date.’ However, ‘The Childe’ decided to proceed with Kim Seon Ho’s involvement, a decision that drew considerable interest.
Expressing gratitude and regret, Kim Seon Ho acknowledged feeling sorry for the impact his situation had on those around him and the potential repercussions for the film. He recalled the support he received from director Park Hoon Jung and Studio And New CEO Jang Kyung Ik, who assured him of their commitment to seeing the project through. Despite feeling a mixture of complex emotions at the time, Kim Seon Ho decided to participate in the film, driven by a sense of responsibility and a desire to avoid causing further trouble.
The actor further explained that the experience allowed him to engage in self-reflection during his hiatus, leading him to appreciate the opportunities that came his way. While he acknowledged that he still has room for growth, Kim Seon Ho expressed his determination to become a better actor and viewed ‘The Childe’ as a potential turning point in his career. He eagerly anticipated the release of the film, believing that the feedback and advice he receives will propel him in a positive direction.
‘The Childe’ is scheduled to hit Korean theaters on June 21, 2023, as audiences eagerly await Kim Seon Ho’s captivating performance in his comeback film.
