The K-pop industry witnessed the rise of numerous fourth-generation idol groups last year, and now it’s time to welcome a fresh wave of rookies in 2023. Fans are buzzing with excitement, eagerly anticipating the arrival of these new talents who have the potential to shake up the industry. Let’s take a closer look at the lineup of rookies poised to make their debut this year.

First in line is YG Entertainment’s highly anticipated girl group, Baby Monster. The agency has introduced seven trainees as potential members of Baby Monster. However, only those who pass the final evaluation will have the opportunity to debut. This will mark YG Entertainment’s first girl group debut in seven years since the iconic Blackpink’s introduction.

In the first half of this year, Starting House, led by former idol group directors Im Yong-woon, plans to launch a girl group named Starting Girls. So far, three members have been revealed: Seungchae, Yena, and Chaeeun. The group is expected to exude a trendy and stylish vibe in their music and performances, targeting a young audience.

Five years after the debut of Ateez, KQ Entertainment is ready to introduce Xikers, a new boy band. The 10 announced members of Xikers—Minjae, Junmin, Sumin, Jinsik, Hyunwoo, Hunter, Junghoon, Seeun, Yujun, and Yechan—were chosen through SBS’ 2022 competition show, “The Player: K-Pop Quest.” Their first mini-album, “House of Tricky: Doorbell Ringing,” is scheduled for release on March 30. KQ Entertainment has teased that the mini-album will showcase Xikers’ refreshing vibe and deliver powerful performances.

Fantagio, the entertainment company housing Astro and Weki Meki, also has plans to debut a new boy band in the first half of this year. Although further details about the group’s debut date are yet to be announced, fans can anticipate another talented addition to the agency’s roster.

Lastly, With Us Entertainment is preparing to introduce their boy band, the Wind, this spring. Comprising seven members who have trained diligently for the past five years, the group aims to create and perform music that brings joy and comfort to all. With Us Entertainment envisions the Wind as a breath of fresh air for those in need, offering consolation and happiness through their diverse musical endeavors, much like the changing seasons.

In summary, the K-pop landscape is on the verge of embracing a new generation of talented rookies. Fans are eagerly looking forward to witnessing the unique talents and captivating performances these newcomers will bring to the stage.
