I Miss You Dad I Am Very Broken Song Lyrics
My Dad Is My Hero follows a daughter trying to live with the loss of her father. His old boots remain by the hallway door, but the sound of his footsteps is gone, leaving the house painfully quiet. While life outside continues as usual, she feels stuck with a grief that makes even getting through an ordinary morning difficult. She tries to stay composed, but the tears, silence and memories leave her feeling frightened and alone.
Her father had always been her protector and the person who gave her strength. Now that he is no longer there, she feels as though she has been pushed onto the front line of a battle she never expected to fight by herself. Still, she remembers what he taught her: a soldier does not simply surrender when life becomes hard. That lesson gives her the courage to stand up again, carry forward the strength she saw in him and promise to protect the family as he once did.
The song gradually moves from grief towards faith. Unable to call upon her earthly father, she turns to God and asks for help in facing the darkness. She begins to see the Lord as her shield and finds a reason to keep fighting, even while admitting that she remains deeply broken. Performed by Catalina Cruz, My Dad Is My Hero was written and composed by Daniel Kagan and Ishank Verma. It was released on June 28, 2026 as part of the Letter to Dad – EP. The complete “I Miss You Dad I Am Very Broken Song Lyrics” express the pain of losing a father, the strength found in his teachings and the determination to live in a way that would make him proud.

Mm
Mm, Oh
I Still Look At Your Old Boots Sitting By The Hallway Door
It Feels Like The Quietest House When Your Footsteps Aren’t On The Floor
The City Keeps Moving Outside, Oblivious To The Space You Left
While I’m Carrying The Weight Of Your Absence Deep Inside My Chest
I Try To Hold It Together When The Morning Light Comes In
But Every Day Feels Like A Hill That’s Getting Too Steep To Win
I’m Looking Up At The Ceiling, Letting The Teardrops Fall
The Shadows Are Closing Back In, And I Feel So Incredibly Small
I’m Calling Out Into The Quiet Room, Wishing That You Could Hear
Because The Weight Of This World Is Starting To Feel Like Fear
I Miss You, Dad, I Am Very Broken
This Life Is Very Hard, And I’m Trying My Best
When You Were Here, You Were My Hero
Now I Am Fighting The Battle Alone
But I’m Standing My Ground On The Pavement
I’m Lifting My Eyes To The Sky
If You Taught Me One Thing, Is That A Soldier
Doesn’t Just Lie Down And Die
So I’m Calling On The God Of The Armies
To Step Right Into This Fight
You Were My Hero In The Daylight
Now I’m Fighting The Dark Tonight
Mm
Oh
No, Oh
I Remember The Strength In Your Hands
The Way You Protected Our Name
Now That The Front LINE Is Mine
I Promise To Do The Exact Same
The Enemy Wants Me Defeated
He Wants Me To Sink In The Grief
But I’m Picking The Shield Back Up
Finding A Radical Belief
You Aren’t Here To Protect Me
But The Father Of Heaven Is Awake
I Miss You, Dad, I Am Very Broken
This Life Is Very Hard, And I Am Trying My Best
When You Were Here, You Were My Hero
Now I Am Fighting The Battle Alone
But I’m Standing My Ground On The Pavement
I’m Lifting My Eyes To The Sky
If You Taught Me One Thing, Is That A Soldier
Doesn’t Just Lie Down And Die
So I’m Calling On The God Of The Armies
To Step Right Into This Fight
You Were My Hero In The Daylight
Now I’m Fighting The Dark Tonight
I’m Keeping The Faith, Dad
The Battle Is Loud
But The Lord Is My Shield Now
I’m Gonna Make You Proud
