Kiana Ledé

Kiana Ledé | Biography, Songs & Lyrics

Kiana Ledé Brown, known professionally as Kiana Ledé, is a multifaceted American artist hailing from the outskirts of Phoenix, Arizona. Born on April 3, 1997, she has made a significant impact in the music and entertainment industry as a singer, songwriter, actress, and pianist. Her diverse heritage, with African American, Indigenous American, Mexican-American, and white roots, has contributed to her unique perspective and artistic approach.

From a young age, Kiana’s passion for music was evident. As an infant, she amazed her family by singing the alphabet as soon as she learned it. At the age of three, she received her first karaoke machine, sparking a love for performing. She regularly participated in school plays, beauty pageants, and received voice and piano lessons, honing her skills as a performer.

Kiana’s breakthrough came in 2011 when her mother discovered Kidz Bop, a platform for kids to showcase their talents. She uploaded a video of Kiana performing an original piece on the piano, which earned her a spot as a finalist in the 2011 KIDZ Star USA Grand Prize, a national talent competition for kids under 15. Winning the competition granted her a recording contract with RCA Records and a starring role in Kidz Bop 21’s music video and commercial.

After moving to North Hollywood at the age of 16, Kiana faced challenges with her music career. RCA Records dropped her after not recognizing her creative potential. However, she persevered and gained a following through her “Soulfood Sessions” series, where she showcased her talent with captivating cover songs.

In 2016, Kiana’s acting career took off as she landed a series regular role as Zoe Vaughn in MTV’s Scream’s second season. She further showcased her acting prowess in the Netflix original series All About The Washingtons alongside Joseph Simmons of Run-DMC.

Despite the setbacks, Kiana’s determination and musical talent caught the attention of Republic Records. She released her debut EP, Selfless, in July 2018, featuring her breakout single “Ex,” which achieved platinum status from the RIAA. This success led her to tour with renowned artists such as Jessie J and Ella Mai.

On April 3, 2020, Kiana released her highly anticipated debut album, Kiki, which made an impressive debut at number 30 on the Billboard 200 chart. The album showcased her versatility as an artist, featuring collaborations with R&B stars Ari Lennox, 6LACK, and others. The lead single, “Mad at Me,” ingeniously interpolated Outkast’s hit song “So Fresh, So Clean.”

Kiana continued to elevate her career, making guest appearances on tracks with artists like Usher and Queen Naija. In 2021, she was featured on the all-female compilation album, Big Femme Energy Volume 1, with her powerful track “Cut ‘Em Off.”

In January 2023, Kiana surprised her fans with a mixtape titled Unfinished, showcasing her evolving artistry and dedication to her craft. Later that year, on June 16, 2023, she released her second studio album, Grudges, a collection of emotive and authentic songs that resonate with her audience.
